Head Coach

Scott Shaffer

Coach Shaffer leads the Wildcats with a strong blend of experience, community connection and a deep understanding of the Greater Latrobe soccer tradition. Before returning to Latrobe as head coach, he served as Head Boys Soccer Coach at Derry Area and previously coached at Greater Latrobe as an assistant under longtime head coach Tom Kennedy.

Beyond the high-school program, Scott serves as President and a staff coach at Loyalhanna United Soccer Club, where he helps players across multiple age groups develop their skills, confidence and love of the game.

His coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement. He is committed to creating a culture where players feel valued, challenged and motivated to become both stronger athletes and strong young men.

Scott holds a USSF D License and resides in Unity Township with his wife, Carrie—affectionately known as “Mrs. Coach”—and their three children. Their oldest son, Jacob, is a former Wildcat soccer player studying Chemical Engineering at Bucknell University.
