Tournament Format & Rules Snapshot

Team Composition:

  • Up to 10 players
  • All players must be enrolled in the same school district
  • No travel/club/classic teams
  • Goalkeepers may double-roster within their division only

Game Format:

  • 5v5 (4 field players + goalkeeper)
  • 3-game minimum guarantee
  • Futsal-style indoor court for fast play and maximum touches

Awards:

1st place teams earn individual awards (up to 10 per team)

Regular Pricing (January 19th–February 14th):

  • $225 first team

Icebreaker Indoor Soccer Tournament – Frequently Asked Questions

How many games will each team play?

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of 3 games during the tournament. Some teams may play additional games depending on bracket results.

What is the game format?

All matches are played 5v5 (4 field players + 1 goalkeeper). Games are fast-paced to maximize touches, movement, and fun.

What size field is used?

Games are played on an indoor futsal-style court inside the Greater Latrobe High School gyms. Smaller playing areas encourage quick decision-making and technical play.

How early should teams arrive?

Teams should plan to arrive 20–30 minutes before their first match to check in, warm up, and get settled. Please allow time for parking and navigating the gyms.

Are spectators allowed?

Yes! Families, friends, and fans are welcome. Concessions, tournament T-shirts, and raffle baskets will be available throughout the event.

Can a player play on multiple teams?

No. Players must be enrolled in the same school district and may only play on one team per division, except goalkeepers who may double-roster within the same division.

Are classic, travel, or club teams allowed?

No. The Icebreaker is a school-based tournament. All players must attend the same school or district.

Will athletic trainers be available?

Yes. Certified trainers will be on-site throughout both tournament days for player safety and support.

Where should teams enter the building?

Teams will enter through the Athletic Entrance of Greater Latrobe High School. Parking information and maps will be shared closer to the event date.

What do we need to bring?

Teams should bring:

  • Matching numbered shirts or pinnies
  • Indoor or court soccer shoes
  • Shin guards
  • A water bottle
  • A goalkeeper jersey (if applicable)

Balls and nets will be provided.

Will schedules be posted online?

Yes. Schedules will be emailed to coaches and posted on the website as soon as they are finalized.

How do we pay our registration fee?

Accepted payment methods include:

  • Online payment via the registration form (if enabled)
  • Check payable to GLBSBA
  • Venmo: @latrobe_boys_soccer

Teams with unpaid fees after February 14 will be removed from the schedule.

Are refunds available?

Refunds may be available if the tournament is cancelled due to weather or facility issues. Team-initiated withdrawals are handled on a case-by-case basis.
