Wildcats Represent at Big Red Tournament!

Members of the Latrobe Boys Soccer team put together a strong showing at the Penn Hills Big Red Tournament this past weekend, battling all the way to the semi-finals in the one-day indoor tournament!

Here’s a recap of the action:

  • Game 1: Latrobe 2 – Deer Lakes 2: A hard-fought battle ended in a draw with Deer Lakes. Goals from Luca Plundo and Pietro Bonandi kept the Wildcats in the game.
  • Game 2: Latrobe 6 – Yough 0: The Wildcats offense exploded in this dominant victory over Yough. Luca Plundo was unstoppable, finding the back of the net four times, while Jack Reed added a brace with two goals of his own.
  • Game 3: Latrobe 1 – Penn Trafford 0: A tense, defensive struggle saw Pietro Bonandi emerge as the hero with the game’s lone goal. Goalkeeper Rian Gettemy earned his second clean sheet of the tournament and made a crucial penalty kick save to preserve the win against rival Penn Trafford.

Unfortunately, the Wildcats’ run came to an end in the semi-finals with a tough 2-3 loss to Winchester Thurston. Despite the defeat, the team showed they are a force to be reckoned with.

Strong Showing:

Every player on the roster contributed to the Wildcats’ success, with strong performances all around. Evan Burger and Chase Jones made key plays throughout the tournament, showcasing the team’s depth and determination.

The Wildcats finished the Big Red Tournament with a 2-0-1 record, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive grit. With a potent offense led by Luca Plundo and Pietro Bonandi, and a stingy defense anchored by Rian Gettemy, this team proved they can compete with the best.

Go Wildcats!
