Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start to summer. It’s a time to remember and reflect—to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Here at Latrobe Boys Soccer, we pause to recognize the military heroes connected to our soccer family. Whether it’s a parent, sibling, coach, or alumni who served, their bravery and selflessness continue to inspire us on and off the field.
We Play with Gratitude
Freedom isn’t free. Every time we take the field, attend school, or gather as a team, we benefit from the sacrifices made by generations of service members.
On Memorial Day, we remember those who never came home—and we say thank you. We are especially grateful to the Gold Star families in our community. Your loss is profound, and we stand with you in remembrance and respect.
Stories That Shape Us
Some of our players proudly wear the names of fallen relatives on their gear. Others have grandparents or parents who served in conflicts from Vietnam to Iraq to Afghanistan. These stories of service are part of who we are, even when they aren’t shared aloud.
Military values like discipline, teamwork, and resilience are woven into the fabric of our team culture. And the courage of those who served reminds us to lead with integrity, support each other, and never take our opportunities for granted.
Memorial Day Traditions
We encourage all of our players and families to take a moment of silence, attend a local tribute or flag ceremony, or participate in the “Hero’s Run” or other community events that recognize the fallen.
