Soccer dads do more than drive the carpool or cheer from the sidelines—they help shape the heart of Greater Latrobe Boys Soccer. These men are the backbone of our program, supporting our players with their time, energy, and unwavering belief both on and off the field.
They’re More Than Just a Ride to Practice
Behind every great Wildcat is a soccer dad who does it all—chauffeur, coach, motivator, equipment manager, and number one fan. Whether it’s tying cleats in the rain, setting up cones in the backyard, or capturing highlight reels on the sidelines, our soccer dads always show up.
Father’s Day is our chance to thank these men for their dedication to the game—and to the young athletes they inspire every day.
Building Bonds Beyond the Game
For many players, their soccer journey began with a ball in the backyard and a dad ready to kick it around. These early moments form a powerful bond between fathers and sons—one built on shared passion, discipline, and laughter.
Studies show that sports like soccer strengthen parent-child relationships. According to the Aspen Institute’s Project Play, when dads are involved in youth sports, it fosters confidence, communication, and emotional well-being. That’s the kind of culture we’re proud to promote at Latrobe.
Leading by Example
Soccer dads teach their sons more than how to play—they model how to lead. From showing respect to referees and opponents to encouraging teammates during tough games, the values they instill are foundational to Wildcat culture.
And it doesn’t stop there. Our soccer dads show up at fundraisers, volunteer at camps, build balloon arches for Senior Night, and support younger athletes coming up through the program. They are team players in every sense of the word.
Generations of Support
At Greater Latrobe, we’re lucky to have dads who are not just supporters—they’re alumni, coaches, and lifelong fans of the game. This multi-generational support strengthens our program year after year.
It’s common to hear, “My dad played here,” or “I remember when we watched the Wildcats play together.” These shared memories build pride and tradition that pass from one generation to the next.
To All Our Soccer Dads—Thank You
To every dad who has ever packed a cooler, taped a twisted ankle, or stayed late after a double-overtime game: thank you. Your belief in your sons—and in this team—means more than words can express.
We hope this Father’s Day brings a chance to relax, reflect, and maybe even kick the ball around again.
