Class of 2026 • Jersey #1 • Greater Latrobe Boys’ Soccer
For the past six years, John Massaro has worn the black and orange of Greater Latrobe with pride. A veteran of more than a decade of soccer, John’s journey with the Wildcats has been marked by growth, dedication, and memories that will last a lifetime. Wearing the #1 jersey, he has become known among teammates and coaches for his steady presence, sense of humor, and commitment to the team.
On and off the field
John is the son of Kathy and Joe Massaro, and when he isn’t on the soccer field, he’s deeply involved in life at Latrobe. A member of Student Council, the National Honor Society, and the lacrosse team, John’s impact extends well beyond the pitch. Ask him about his favorite part of soccer and he’ll tell you it comes down to the simple joys: the bonds with his teammates and the lessons learned along the way.
The Wildcats way
John’s favorite motto—“The 3 F’s: Family, Fellas, Food”—captures the culture he’s helped build with his team. Soccer has taught him about accountability, leadership, and the importance of enjoying the journey as much as the results. He recalls countless memorable moments with the Wildcats, from the electricity of big games to the laughter of inside jokes only teammates can understand. Through it all, he’s carried himself with positivity and resilience, crediting his coaches—especially Coach Jake Rice—for inspiring him and making his high school soccer experience one to remember.
Beyond the game
Off the field, John’s interests are as wide-ranging as his talents. He’s a fan of The Office and The Wolf of Wall Street, he fuels up on steak and Reese’s Cups, and he finds motivation in the music of Treaty Oak Revival. When he dreams big, it’s of skiing in Europe or sitting down to dinner with singer-songwriter Tate McRae. And like many Wildcats before him, his heart belongs to FC Barcelona, with Lionel Messi standing as his all-time favorite athlete.
Looking ahead
John plans to pursue college opportunities and carry forward the resilience and discipline soccer has given him. In ten years, he hopes to be building a successful career while staying true to the lessons he’s learned on the field. Before he graduates, he has a message for the next wave of Wildcats: work hard, stay dedicated, and enjoy every moment.
As he prepares to walk across the stage with the Class of 2026, John leaves behind more than memories—he leaves a legacy of leadership, loyalty, and the reminder that soccer, at its best, is about much more than the game.
