Class of 2026 • Jersey #37• Greater Latrobe Boys’ Soccer
It’s not easy to travel across the world and step into a brand-new school, new community, and new team. But that’s exactly what David Vavruška has done. An exchange student from the Czech Republic, David arrived in Latrobe on August 19th—and in just a short time, he has already made an impact on the Wildcats program.
David has embraced everything about the experience: new teammates, new routines, and the opportunity to compete at a high level. Supported by his host family, Kristin and Eric Adams, he’s quickly found his place in orange and black.
Asked what he looks forward to most this season, David keeps it simple: “making memories.” His goals match his drive: “to win everything.” His pre-game routine is fueled by music, locking in with Eminem in his headphones before stepping onto the field. It’s the same discipline that inspires him to live by the words: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”
That focus is also why David looks up to Cristiano Ronaldo. Not just for the goals, but for the incredible discipline behind them. It’s no surprise that David’s advice to future Wildcats is straightforward: “Hard work always makes you better.”
Outside of soccer, David is a talented athlete in swimming and enjoys skiing as well. His favorites reveal a blend of speed and personality: the high-octane pace of Fast & Furious, the classic humor of The Simpsons, and a playlist featuring Travis Scott and Eminem. When it comes to favorites, his go-to meal is spaghetti carbonara, his snack of choice is Nerds Gummy Clusters, and if he could pack a bag tomorrow, he’d head straight to The Bahamas. His dream dinner guest? None other than Ronaldo himself.
In just a few short weeks, David has shown what it means to embrace opportunity, lean on hard work, and bring joy to the game. His story is one of courage and enthusiasm—proof that no matter where you come from, the Wildcat spirit is universal. #37 wears it well.
