Make It Count: Camden Flynn’s Wildcat Story

There are players whose soccer stories begin before they can remember—and then there are players like Camden Flynn, who prove that the length of the journey matters far less than what you do with it.

In his two years with Latrobe soccer, Camden earned his place wearing #2 for the Wildcats. His time in the program has given him exactly what he values most: memories with his teammates, meaningful games and the opportunity to be part of something bigger than himself.

“I’m old.”

—Camden, on what it means to be a senior

Short, honest and guaranteed to make his teammates laugh.

But beneath the humor is an outlook worth remembering. Camden’s advice to the younger Wildcats is simple: “Have fun and don’t take the time for granted.”

That perspective captures what senior season is really about. The games eventually end, but the practices, bus rides, inside jokes and time spent alongside teammates are the pieces players carry with them.

The “JV Demon”

Camden didn’t need a long explanation when asked how he hopes his teammates remember him. His answer was just two words:

“JV demon.”

—Camden’s preferred Wildcat legacy

It is funny, confident and unmistakably Camden—but it also reflects how he approached his time in the program. He showed up, stayed ready and made his presence known.

Soccer also taught Camden the importance of staying in shape, something that connects naturally with one of his favorite interests away from the field: weight lifting.

A Simple Pregame Plan

Some players have elaborate playlists, carefully selected gear or a long series of superstitions.

Camden keeps things much simpler:

“Sleep and eat Subway before away games.”

—Camden’s pregame routine

Honestly, it is hard to argue with that strategy.

His most memorable game was an away matchup against Penn-Trafford. Heading into his final season, he also had one especially specific team goal in mind: sweep Penn-Trafford.

Beyond the Field

Away from soccer, Camden enjoys weight lifting. His favorites include Kinder Bueno, Revenge of the Sith and Dexter.

If he could pack his bags tomorrow, he would head to Venice, Italy. Following graduation, Camden plans to attend Saint Vincent.

Making the Time Matter

Camden’s Wildcat career is a reminder that there is no single path into a program and no minimum amount of time required to make an impact.

In two years, he became a teammate, a Wildcat and—by his own definition—a JV demon.
