Sam Silvis brings versatility, speed and endurance to Greater Latrobe’s middle school team.
Wearing #1 and serving as a captain, Sam feels most at home at center back or outside midfield—two positions that keep him involved in the action and allow him to contribute in different ways.
“I feel like I get the ball a lot with those positions, and I am good at them,” Sam said.
That flexibility gives the Wildcats another dependable option in both the defensive and middle thirds of the field. Sam is comfortable helping stop an attack, then moving forward to support his teammates.

Away from soccer, Sam also enjoys running cross country and track. It is no surprise that, if he could choose one superpower to help his game, he would pick speed.

His advice to younger players reflects the value he places on preparation and fitness.
“Start going for runs to help with your conditioning,” Sam said.
Even with that strong running foundation, Sam is continuing to challenge himself. The next area he wants to improve is his dribbling, adding another tool to a game already built on versatility and work rate.
Whether he is anchoring the defense, moving into the midfield or setting the pace for his teammates, Sam’s willingness to work and improve helps make him an important leader for the middle school Wildcats.
