For senior Tyler Webster, #21 carries a connection to the Wildcats who came before him—one that begins inside his own family.

Three seasons ago, Tyler’s older brother, Devin Webster, wore the same number during his 2023 senior season before graduating in 2024.

Devin’s soccer journey spanned 14 years, and the words of wisdom he shared on his Senior Night were simple:

Tyler’s path through soccer has been different, but the lesson he carries is remarkably similar.

Known to his teammates as Webby, Tyler enters his senior season wearing #21 and looking forward to what has always made soccer meaningful to him: creating more memories with some of his closest friends.

Some of those memories were not made during games. They happened on the walk to practice.

Tyler still remembers walking down to Rotary Park with Nolan Thomas during their middle school soccer years. Those ordinary walks became part of a friendship and a Wildcat journey that continued through summer workouts, difficult moments and years of learning what dedication can accomplish.

Now Tyler has the opportunity to carry #21 through one more senior season—honoring the responsibility of the Wildcats who came before him while creating a legacy that is entirely his own.

Hard Work Over Natural Talent

Soccer has taught Tyler lessons that reach well beyond wins and losses.

Tyler understands that talent alone cannot replace commitment. Progress comes from continuing to show up, accepting that improvement takes time and choosing to work even when circumstances do not feel fair.

That mindset has shaped the advice he would give future Wildcats:

It is also reflected in the goals Tyler has set for his final season. He wants to work hard, earn straight A’s and finish the year as a better person—not merely a better player.

For the team, he has one especially satisfying goal in mind: beating Penn-Trafford.

Carrying the Responsibility Forward

Being a senior means more to Tyler than reaching the final year of high school soccer.

To him, it means carrying the responsibility passed down by the seniors and coaches who came before him—and becoming a role model for the younger players who will follow.

For Tyler, that connection is especially personal. He watched Devin complete his own senior season in the same #21 Tyler now wears. Their soccer journeys may look different, but both brothers have placed hard work at the center of what they hope to leave behind.

That responsibility is built through everyday choices: how a senior practices, how he responds when something goes wrong and how he treats the people around him.

Tyler has experienced that kind of encouragement personally.

A Friendship Built Along the Way

When asked about a teammate who inspired him, Tyler immediately thought of Nolan Thomas. Nolan encouraged Tyler to continue playing soccer and spent summers working alongside him, helping Tyler improve one day at a time.

Those hours mattered. So did the friendship behind them.

Nolan is also the teammate most likely to make Tyler laugh, thanks to his ability to find the perfect thing to say immediately after someone finishes talking.

Their friendship is a reminder that teammates influence one another in ways that extend far beyond the field. Sometimes they push each other through one more workout. Sometimes they provide the laughter that makes a difficult day easier. Years later, even the walks to practice become memories worth holding onto.

Someone Who Works—and Cares

Tyler hopes to be remembered as someone who is funny and caring. Those two words capture the balance in his personality: someone who can make the people around him laugh while still taking seriously the responsibility to support them.

His approach to senior leadership is not about claiming attention. It is about recognizing what earlier players and coaches invested in the program, then doing his part to carry it forward.

His personal motto is direct:

But Tyler does not use that belief as an excuse to stop trying. It is precisely why he believes hard work matters. You cannot control every circumstance, but you can control whether you keep going, how much effort you give and who you become along the way.

That may be the most meaningful victory Tyler is pursuing this season: reaching the end as a stronger student, teammate and person.

Built for What Comes Next

Tyler’s interests outside soccer reveal someone who enjoys understanding how things work.

He builds LEGO sets and computers, plays video games, loves taking long drives and almost always has music playing. He also competes in Latrobe ice hockey and track, giving him experience across three very different sports.

Before a soccer game, his soundtrack includes “Mr. Glock” by Key Glock. His broader music rotation also includes “Night, Blooming Jasmine” by fakemink.

After graduation, Tyler plans to attend a strong trade school and pursue his interests in becoming a mechanic and electrician—careers that match his natural curiosity, technical ability and enjoyment of building and working with machines.

If he could have dinner with anyone, Tyler would choose automotive personality Misha Charoudin. His favorite athlete is motorcycle racer Michael Dunlop, whose record-setting success at the Isle of Man TT represents the composure, courage and willingness to risk failure that Tyler admires.

Even his dream trip fits: Switzerland, where long roads, extraordinary scenery and engineering come together.

At home, Tyler will miss his mom’s homemade pizza and waffles. His favorite candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, his favorite movie is Real Steel and his favorite class is Honors Chemistry.

As he celebrates his senior year, Tyler is grateful for the people who helped him reach it.

He thanks his parents, Jayme and Jeff, for always supporting him, going out of their way to see him happy and helping him do his best.

He thanks his coaches for pushing him to become both a better player and a mentally stronger person. He also thanks his girlfriend, Audrey, for consistently supporting him and helping him through whatever he faces.

And to everyone he has met along the way who helped him grow, Tyler offers a simple message:

The Memories That Remain

Tyler’s Wildcat story is ultimately about the connection between hard work and friendship.

The work helped him improve. His friends gave him reasons to keep doing it.

Now Tyler has one final season to compete beside them, carry forward the example of the seniors who came before him and create a few more memories that will matter long after the schedule is over.

Years from now, he may remember the games, the practices and the goals the team accomplished. But he will also remember the summers spent getting better, the perfectly timed jokes and those walks down to Rotary Park with one of his closest friends.
