Gabe Daniels brings a steady presence, a strong sense of responsibility and plenty of competitive energy to Greater Latrobe’s middle school team.

Wearing #15 and serving as one of the Wildcats’ captains, Gabe feels most at home at center back. It is a position that calls for composure, awareness and the confidence to organize the players around him.

“My favorite position to play is definitely center back,” Gabe said.

One of Gabe’s favorite memories with Latrobe Soccer came when he scored his first goal during a game in Indiana. For a player who usually helps protect the Wildcats’ goal, finding the back of the net made the moment especially memorable.

Before games, Gabe gets ready by listening to a mix of rap and metal. If he could choose one superpower to bring to the field, he would pick superspeed—an ability that would be just as useful chasing down an attacker as it would be joining the offense.

As a captain, Gabe is also thinking about how he can continue growing as a leader. His next goal is to become more confident speaking to the team.

His advice to younger players reflects the discipline he brings to the game.

“Always do what your coach asks of you and never argue with referees,” Gabe said. “Arguing with referees gets you nowhere.”

With his dependable play at center back and his focus on becoming a stronger communicator, Gabe is helping set the tone for the middle school Wildcats.
