The Latrobe Junior High Soccer Season Recap for 2025 showcases a year of growth, grit, and exciting football under first-year Head Junior High Coach Dylan Zupanc. From preseason tests to league showdowns, our young Wildcats leaned into the Latrobe standard—compete together, improve every day, and play with pride.
Season Snapshot
Latrobe wrapped the campaign at 8–4–1, outscoring opponents 63–31. The offense found its rhythm early, and the back line tightened as the year progressed—setting a strong foundation for the senior high pipeline.
- Statement Wins: 12–3 @ Gateway (9/2) and 10–1 @ Indiana (9/11) showcased attacking depth and relentless pressure.
- Clean Sheets: A composed back line produced multiple shutouts, including 4–0 @ Penn Hills (9/16) and a clinical 2–0 vs. Plum (9/23).
- Strong Finish: The team closed with a commanding 10–0 @ Armstrong (9/25), a performance that reflected season-long improvements in shape, spacing, and decision-making.
Not every result was straightforward—tight scorelines like 3–2 @ Connellsville (8/26) and a hard-fought 1–1 @ Penn-Trafford (9/18) gave the group valuable reps in managing momentum, set pieces, and late-game composure.
How the Wildcats Grew
This wasn’t just a season of goals; it was a season of growth. Training focused on first touch under pressure, quick combinations through midfield, and defensive communication. By mid-September, you could see the progress: quicker transitions after winning the ball, smarter decisions in the final third, and better team compactness without the ball.
- Attacking Identity: Wide play and overlapping runs created quality service into the box, leading to multi-goal performances across the schedule.
- Defensive Shape: Clear assignments on restarts, improved tracking in the half-spaces, and confident goalkeeping limited second-chance looks.
- Culture & Chemistry: The group embraced accountability—competing in training, supporting each other, and celebrating the small wins that add up.
Those habits matter. They’re the connective tissue that will carry these players into next year’s challenges and, ultimately, into the senior high program. If you enjoyed this recap, you’ll also like our program-wide roundups: Summer Recap and 2024 Achievements.
